THE THING NOBODY TELLS YOU

Pulling isn't disobedience. It's leverage.

Most harnesses clip at the back. That is the same design sled dogs wear, because it gives the dog something to lean into. Your dog isn't ignoring you. The equipment is working against you both.

HOW IT WORKS

Redirect, don't resist.

The WITHERS harness has two attachment points. One for everyday walking, one for the walks where you need more say in the direction.
Back clip harness diagram

Back clip alone

The lead sits behind the shoulders. When your dog pushes forward, the pressure runs straight down the spine and they push harder against it. Useful for a relaxed walk. Useless when they have decided otherwise.
Front clip harness diagram

Front clip

The lead sits at the centre of the chest. Forward pressure turns your dog gently back towards you instead of letting them pull through it. It changes the direction of the force, not the amount.

IS IT RIGHT FOR YOUR DOG?

Built for the dogs that make walks hard work.

Four sizes, from small breeds to large. The question isn't how big your dog is, it's whether the walk is a fight.
  • They pull on every walk. Not occasionally. From the front door to the front door.
  • They're strong for their size. A determined 14kg dog outmuscles most people on a bad day.
  • They lunge or react. Other dogs, bikes, cats. You need the turn, not the tug of war.
  • They're a rescue still learning. Kit that helps while the training catches up.
  • You want off the collar. Pressure across the chest and shoulders, not the throat.
  • You walk every day. Padding and a proper fit matter more when it's twice a day, every day.
